Annual General Body meeting 2016 of Citizens Forum was held at Jnana- Jyothi Educational Institutions Premises on 23rd October 016 at 4:00 PM. Shri T.K Puttaswami President welcomed the Members. The General body passed the secretary's Report, the Annual accounts of the Forum and approved the Appointment of the Auditor for the coming Financial Year. Members present discussed various activities of the forum and made suggestions for further action to be initiated for the coming year. The AGM concluded with the vote of thanks of Shri T.K.Puttaswamy, President .

The Executive committee met the Corporator, Assistant Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer BBMP and discussed on matters related to footpath occupation by the businessmen, road maintenance, garbage collection, and spraying for eradicating the mosquito menace. The BBMP Officials assured all types of cooperation from their side. As agreed by them in the meeting, BBMP conducted a raid across the main roads and penalised the businessmen who have occupied the footpath.
Citizens Forum has been included in the BBMP ECO GROUP Bangalore and BWSSB Group and have attended several rounds of meetings regarding solid waste management with the Special Commissioner for SWM Bangalore, and JC SWM Bangalore & JC Yelahanka area. Several members of Citizens Forum have been nominated as 'Suchi Mitras'. The Forum has been communicating with BBMP Officials about the waste collection and also clearance of black spots through WhatsApp messaging
Functions, Felicitations & Other events
Arranged a common platform at Jnana Jyothi educational institutions for the MLA candidates face to face the public during the Assembly elections. A number of MLA candidates came and addressed the gatherings on their agenda for the election.
itizens Forum also arranged a similar platform at Jnana Jyothi educational institutions for the Corporator Candidates face to face the public during the BBMP elections and a number of candidates who contested the BBMP election came and spoke highlighting their election manifesto. Doordarshan and the press was also invited to report the events.
Organised a felicitation to the Corporators who have won the BBMP election. Smt. Chandramma Kempegowda, Ward 1, Smt R Padmavathi Amarnath, Ward 2, M/s. Netra Pallavi ward 3 AND Shri Satish Corporator ward 4 were felicitated during the function.
Organised a program against the Footpath occupation by businessmen and also a drive against plastic. Distributed handbills against shops issuing items in plastic bags. The event was supported by BBMP officials and ITC, Yelahanka Police and Traffic Police. Hundreds of students from all the schools in Yelahanka New Town marched shouting slogans to leave the footpath for pedestrians and also not to use plastic bags.
Organised another event of Supported by BBMP Officials Footpath clearance. BBMP Engineers cleared the footpath occupations as well as raided the shops and confiscated plastic bags from the shops.
Participated the Kill Bill program organised by MLA, Corporator and BBMP officials. The bills pasted and hung along the roads of New Town was removed by volunteers.
Participated in Tree plantation event organized at Allalasandra Lake area along with other associations from Judicial Layout and Purvankara apartments on the occasion of International Environment Day. Corporator, JC Yelahanka and BBMP Officials and New Town Residents participated in the function.
Conducted a house to house campaign to educate general public about waste segregation and enrolled road-wise volunteers as contact points with the support of Corporator, BBMP officials and Citizens forum volunteers and Staff members of ITC Limited in A and B Sector. The citizens welcomed the movement and offered full support. We could achieve a very good result of about 90 per cent segregation of solid waste and a better road sweeping and black spot clearing. WOMEN'S WING ACTIVITIES
Conducted an on the spot painting competition in the Government school at 4th phase, Yelahanka New town and awarded prizes to the successful students. Consolation prizes were issued for all the students.
Women's wing members also participated in all the functions organized by Citizens forum and extended their full support to ‘make these events successful.
As a part of Children's day celebration 2016, a drawing competition was organized on 18th November at Viveka Baal Mandir school Yelahanka New Town. 60 children’s of 3rd n 4th standard participated in a drawing competition drawing sheets sponsored by Smt. Ramnin and Prizes sponsored by Sri. Bhaskar Shetty.
A demonstration on Home Composting for the wet waste generate from the home waste everyday. The demonstraton was organized by Citizens Forum Yelahanka New Town, MLA Yelahanka area, Corporator. Quite a lot of people assemble to see the demo and learned about home composting;
Also attended an exhibition on Home composting organised by BBMP along with RWAs at Sahakar Nagara, Bengaluru on 25-03-2015. Honorable Minister for Agriculture Shri Krishna Bhaire Gowda inaugurated the exhibition and spoke on the occasion. Several exhibits on Home Composting equipment and technologies were present in the exhibition. MEETING WITH CORPORATOR AND BBMP OFFICIALS
CITIZENS FORUM organised a Face-to-Face meeting with Mr. Satish, Honourable Corporator Ward-4 on Saturday the 18th of March 2017. Senior members, President and General Secretary from Citizens forum and Assistant Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer BBMP Yelahanka New Town participated in the discussion. Citizens forum Members brought out sever issues regarding road maintenance, footpath maintenance, waste segregation and disposal etc. were discussed in the meeting. Honourable Corporataor and BBMP Officials assured that all possible steps to improve the Yelahanka New Town will be initiated without fail. The issues brought out were noted by the BBMP Officials.
Citizens form organised a Health camp in association with the Corporator and BBMP Officials on 12th March, 2017 (Sunday) 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM2. at BBMP Office premises near New town Shopping complex.. Honourable MLA, Shri S.R.Viswanath inaugurated the camp along with his wife Smt. Vani Viswanath. Dr.Krishna Rao, Cardiologist, Carolin echo technician and team from Narayana Health Center M.S.Ramaiah Hospital conducted Examination and Check Up of B.P, Sugar, ECG and ,Echo Cardiogram. Around 100 Senior Citizens and others availed the free examination and check up.
KARNATIC MUSIC RECITAL
In association with BBMP and Corporator Citizens Forum Yelahanka New Town organised a Carnatic Musical Concert by Musicians from Yelahanka Sangeeth Sabha at BBMP Office premises on 25-3-2017 at 6:30 PM. Honerable MLA Shri S.R.Viswanath inaugurated the concert and Mrs. Vani Viswanath, Shri Satish Honourable Corporator graced the occasion. A large number of music lovers enjoyed the musical concert and appreciated the effort of Citizens Forum and expressed the opinion that such programs should be organised periodicially so that Citizens forum will become lively amongst the citizens of Yelahanka New Town.
EXHIBITION OF COMPOST SEGREGATION AND MANAGEMENT (COMPOST SANTHE)
Citizens forum joined with MLA, Corporators, BBMP and other associations in Compost Santhe conducted at BBMP Office premises Yelahanka New Town on 24th June 2017 from 9 to 1 PM. There will be exhibitions on composting techniques and biogas generation, roof top gardening etc. All are requested attend the event and gain the knowledge about home composting.
Project initiative green glow
Citizens Forum continued the Project Green Glow for 5 years involving teachers and students of Schools in Yelahanka where the schools acted as facilitators. The project covered 'Environment, Solid Waste Management, Bio-diversity, Water Bodies. The Fifth year, a Green club was formed in all the schools and requested to implement the projects that were taken up during the project period. Each year a grand finale of award giving function was conducted for Recognising the best project implemented during the year where prizes and certificates for all participants and rolling trophy to the best performer School were awarded. The award giving Functions were attended by dignitaries, environmentalists and scientists. Shri S.R.Viswanath Honourable Member of Legislative Assembly of Yelahanka constituency and the corporators of Yelahanka New Town were of great source help and inspiration for the success of the project.
Overall, the Project Green Glow accomplished the purpose of sensitising the community to adopt climate friendly lifestyles and make Yelahanka New Town a model, clean green zone where best practices in environmental conservation are followed through. The participant school teachers and students all worked together to make it a grand success. Starting from the schools to homes, to the community as a whole, to the industrial and corporate works places the message of Eco friendly living is spread.
